Tips for Everyone
Here are a few tips on how to do make-up.
To avoid a blotchy finish when applying
foundation, hydrate your skin first. A moisturiser that evens
out the moisture in your skin without making the skin greasy
is what you will need. If your current moisturiser leaves
your skin a little greasy to apply make-up immediately, allow
5 minutes or so for the skin to soak it in before beginning
to apply make-up.
Frosted eye shadows and pearlised finishes
are not kind to older or lined skin. They can cause creases
to be more obvious, particularly pale frosts. You can still
use a wide variety of shades, just avoid the pearlised finish.
Go matt.
Powder can be ageing so don't use it
underneath the eyes, or if you do, only very thinly. It is
best to blot first to reduce oilyness and apply powder through
a tissue. This will be demonstrated in the make-up room. Keep
powder to the central panel.
Some eyes are just not suited to eye
liner as it closes them up. If this applies to you use one
of the other eye-emphasising techniques available, softer
more blended looks look very flattering.
Lip pencils are good for containing lipsticks
if the lip stick is not too moist. Lip lines should be the
same colour as the lip colour, or only slightly darker and
well-blended to avoid creating a hard look. Hard lip lines
are not always as kind, especially on small lips. Make-up
looks best when it enhances your best features rather than
becoming a feature that is more in your face or visible than
you.
Be kind to your skin. Hydrate, hydrate,
hydrate. Drink enough water, (high water content foods as
part of your diet is helpful), moisturise and use lip conditioner.
Well hydrated skin is really is smoother and key to a good
finish.
If you have large pores Clarins make
a very effective pore filler which is best applied sparingly
to the area with your fingers before applying foundation.
Good quality, well maintained make-up
brushes enable you to blend much more easily, this is the
basis of a celebrity finish. We hope this is helpful.
